So I found all of my old poetry and decided to share them. I will slowly be posting them as often as I can I’m gonna start with a few of my favorites. Remember these are mostly from middle school and a little bit of high school and most of them sprouted from reading a book, watching a movie, or some other outside source.
From Homeless Eyes
I sit on the cold, wet curb
Listening, watching, waiting
Listening to the sirens and cars
Watching the homeless dogs
dig through the garbage can
Thinking of being in a home
I have no home
nowhere to go
Cold, dirty, hungry
People pass me with dirty looks
I can their cold hearts through their dirty clothes
The warmer hearted ones give me pennies
and sometimes a cracker
Then they all walk away
They go to their homes
Oh I wish for a home
For a husband and a child
For a nice, warm fire and food in the cupboard…
A man is coming
I cannot see his cold heart
or his dirty look
He holds out his hand…
He leads me home.
A whisper
You whisper in my ear
as we dance across the floor
You spin me ’round
and as I fall down
I think of all the happy times
The snow in your hair
The sunset on the beach
The first time we kissed…
As I lay on the floor
I don’t hear the screaming
All I hear
is my song
I smile as I drift away
It didn’t last forever
but it felt like an eternity
I’m not here
but I’m still with you
We may not be together
but I still love you
I’m rushed away
Never to see you again
but there isn’t anymore pain
I’m running
with Dusty
I’m swimming
with John
I’m in a bettter place
but I never got to tell you
how much I love you…
I’d walk a mile
I’d walk a mile because I know I can do it
I’d walk another just to prove it
If another will make you be quiet
I’ll walk a third and listen to the silence
I’ll walk a fourth and tell you about my pain
and how I love dancing in the rain
While I walk the fifth I’ll tell you the truth
All you do is hurt people when you make a goof
I’d walk a mile with you next to me
I’d walk another because I feel free
If another will make you realize
I’m walking this mile with tears in my eyes
I’ll walk a tenth and I’ll give you a hint
You have horrible breth, now here, have a mint
Now you know how it feels
how it feels to lose
Now you’ve just walked a mile
in someone else’s shoes
